Sesame Street Party Poster (Decoration)

Sometimes I am asked to do unique projects a customer may not know how to do or simply may not want to spent the time doing. This request was for a poster that would be used as decoration during a party to go along with the Sesame Street/Elmo theme. 

The customer also sent me a picture of the invitations so I was able to match the colors and style of the poster to the invitations and already existing plans. 

PS - Can you guess that it is for a  *2*nd birthday and the birthday girl's name starts with *H*?

Creativity for that one belongs to the parents :)

Baby Shower Invite Samples

While the average project lends itself to my making up to three samples for the customer to sift through and figure out what they're looking for, sometimes I find myself willing (and wanting) to make more. 

These situations usually arise when the customer is willing to pay more, has extra time or has given me a project that I feel will expand my own collection and experience. 

With a simple desire for a "baby shower invite for a shower with no real theme but will have be on Valentine's weekend and will have the color scheme of pink and chocolate" I had a whole realm of possibilities on my hands. The result is the following:

Some of you may remember "Jilli Ruth Crafts" and the handmade treasures that came along then. 

Well, it's still me, but I've found a new focus - and one that is certainly much more applicable to my needs over the past year and a half.

Formal Modern Wedding Invitations

5x7 Invitation printed on cream cardstock (Neenah Paper) with an aubergine cardstock backing (Paper-source paper). Response card printed on same cream cardstock. Design idea presented by client and implemented by myself. Each card was printed and compiled with ribbon and stuffed into address-printed envelope for client who stamped and sent them themselves. 

Matching thank you cards were made as a gift for the client. 

Matching programs were made for the ceremony. 

Wedding Decorating and Coordinating

This past fall I had the honor of planning and coordinating a wedding for two dear friends. 

It was even more enjoyable for me since both the ceremony and the reception were at the same church where my husband and I got married! 

The bride wanted a simple wedding at a low cost with a traditional and DIY blended look. 

Her theme colors were blue and silver. 

For the reception, they wanted a coffee/tea bar with simple desserts.

These included homemade white cupcakes with chocolate frosting, 

four different types of homemade scones, frosted marshmallow pops, chocolate dipped pretzel rods, 

and for the favors each guest could choose a unique mug to take home along with a chocolate dipped spoon.

The beverages served were green tea, english breakfast tea, raspberry tea, regular coffee and decaf coffee. 

I also created fabric flower boutonnieres for all the men in the wedding party and silver hair clips/corsages for all of the women. 

It was an absolute joy for me to help with this wedding and know that I was helping the bride enjoy her day. 

Being able to serve and encourage a friend while doing what I love is why I do all of this!

Formal Wedding Invitations

I had the immense pleasure of creating my brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law's wedding invitations. 

Their wedding colors are blush pink & grey (with an extra emphasis on roses and bows).

They wanted a simple invitation, size 5x7, with an RSVP response card and reception information card. 

All wording was dictated by the bride and groom.

Invitations designed with directions and requests from client after suggestions and options provided by myself. All supplies, envelopes & stamps were purchased by myself at the request of the client.

Invitations and envelopes were printed, arranged and made ready to be mailed by myself at the request of the client.

Wedding Shower Invitation

The following is a digital file I made for myself. Well, actually, for my mother who is throwing a little backyard shindig for my little brother and his fiance soon! But, since I'd be the one creating, printing & stuffing (into the envelopes, that is) it really was for me. 

So, this is a good time to let you see what you can do with a custom made digital card.

I wanted printing to be cheap (hey, guess why I started creating and making my own things?) so I went with all black ink and a size I could print from my own printer, 5x7. I decided to print on to colored paper and embellish it from there once printed.

A Baking Project: Part 1

I have the immense pleasure of making the desserts for a very special wedding coming up this May. 

I have the task of baking 10 pies (4 apple, 3 pecan & 3 cherry), 10 cheesecakes (4 original, 3 raspberry almond & 3 chocolate peanut butter) and filling the left over gaps with cookies and brownies. 

This past weekend the bride & I met to make some headway on the pies and we were quite successful! 

All of the pies have been made and are currently frozen. I will bake them a day ahead of the wedding and they will be served at room temperature. 

I will post pictures of the actual event and share with you how the table is put together. 

This is a new type of event planning that I've taken part in but I am thoroughly enjoying it!

Wedding Shower Planning & Hosting

In 2012, I planned and hosted a wedding shower with a "The Story of our Love" theme.  

The shower was for two good friends who were about to graduate college and wanted to have a celebration with their friends who could not travel to attend the wedding. 

The location was on their campus, on the roof of a building, so decorations were limited. 

It was an open house ice cream social style event. 

There was even an area that was designated as a photo booth.

I designed & sent out all of the invitations, 

organized notes, well wishes & advice into a memory book for the couple, 

provided all of the food & 

designed, provided & set up all of the decorations. 

It was an honor to help out a fantastic couple and it really was an enjoyable night.
